Providing Services to Our Community Since 1937

It’s about having a good time, meeting wonderful people
and . . . giving something back to Mobile!

So, what is it?

It’s a progressive member organization which focuses on personal and professional development, building a healthy society and aiding America’s communities.

It’s called Exchange

And it involves men and women who want to make our country a better place for all.

As part of the nation’s most established service organization, Exchange Club members are business and professional leaders working together with families and fellow citizens to improve the quality of life in hundreds of communities across the United States and Puerto Rico.

More than 32,000 volunteers gather at nearly 1000 club meetings on a regular basis and participate in social and family-related activities, as well as important programs which provide safe and secure communities. Whether it’s supporting educational efforts, cleaning up the environment or reaching out to a less fortunate child - Exchange Club members are high achievers who want to make a real difference in the world around them.

Discovering Exchange!

By becoming involved with the Exchange Club of Mobile, you’re making a valuable investment of time and resources. It’s a small investment for a lifetime of benefits and friendships. Not only do members develop their leadership skills by organizing projects and holding club board and committee positions, but their Exchange investment can advance them to district and national leadership roles. The personal and professional growth opportunities are unlimited. Exchange provides an exciting opportunity which can easily fit into your lifestyle, no matter how busy you are.

Exchange Club Programs!
The Exchange Club of Mobile is affiliated with the National Exchange Club, which began in 1911, and is headquartered in Toledo, Ohio. The National Exchange Club endorses specific community service programs called the Exchange Club Program of Service. These are broken down into four areas of service: Americanism, Youth, Community Service and Child Abuse Prevention - our national focus.

The Exchange Club of Mobile was formed in 1936 by former Mayor Joseph Langan and other prominent Mobilians to help promote Americanism, Youth programs and community service. The Child Abuse Prevention program was added later. The club was formally chartered in January of 1937 and still carries forward the high standards of community service set by Mr. Langan and the other men who founded our local club.

Our Local Club Programs!

The Exchange Club Family Center of Mobile provides child abuse prevention programs and parent training for the most fragile members of our community was founded in 1991 by The Exchange Club of Mobile. This is possibly one of the most important of our services to the community. Some of our other projects include:

The annual Law Enforcement Awards Banquet for the Mobile Police Department.

Our annual Youth of the Year scholarship program that this year will award $7000 to local students to attend the University of South Alabama.

Leading the annual Veteran’s Day Parade and handing out American flags to everyone lining the route as part of the “giveakidaflagtowave” program.

Providing flags for our new citizens as they are sworn in each year on Law Day.

Honoring citizens and businesses that properly fly the American Flag with a dinner and plaque at the annual “Proudly We Hail” function.

Installing Freedom Shrines in local schools and government buildings that display and teach about the documents that are important to our country’s history.

Having fun while supporting our
community projects!

We have three major fund-raisers each year that help us support our community service projects and the Exchange Club Family Center. The Alabama/Auburn Jamboree, The Luck of the Irish Cook-off Parade, and, new to 2005, Fun Run and the “That’s Jake” Charity Golf Tournament.

These are fun events that allow us to support these projects while having a great time. Just look at the fun you and your family could be having while doing something wonderful for your community.

The Exchange Club Mission:
Exchange, America’s Service Club, is a group of men and women working together to make our communities better places to live in through programs of service in Americanism, community service, youth activities, and its national project, the prevention of child abuse.
